Welp this is the Weekend that the good ole USA turns 250 Years Old. Thought out the good and bad times in the Country, the celebration of its Independence brings on alot of contradictive meanings. For some it means different dates, but I will keep the focus on Business for this site.
Also this will mark 20 Years I lost my Father over in Africa. Still not sure about the circumstances and how he died, but may he Rest on and I hope one day to look into the situation.
Also near this date is a Personal Anniversary, it has been 15 Years since I arrived in NYC from South Florida/Miami to start a new chapter in my life. After not finding any jobs, work or any other kinda success that I thought I would find in Miami, I decided to do a ‘Soft Reset’, to put it in Video Game terms, and try to find some new opportunities in the Big Apple. Throughout my life many people was pushing and suggesting me to go to NYC to chase whatever dreams and ideas I had (Music, Gaming, College, etc) but I often felt ‘intimidated’ by the city, with all the busyness, traffic, tall buildings and overall fast pace of life. I felt I would get totally swallowed up and chewed out if I came here from suburban South Jersey or Alabama! So as a young guy I just pivoted to other cities like Philly 1st (which is less than an hour away from where I stayed in South Jerz) and then Miami (a life long Dolphins fan and a place I got a chance to visit while a College and fell in love with South Beach). But I never found any real traction in those places so basically as a last resort (I was running out of places to go mind you) I just chose to go to NYC and it was make or break time. Went thru a few rough patches for the 1st couple of years (being on the streets, being falsely arrested and detained not being in contact and estranged from family among other things) but as time went on I grew and learnt alot. I considered living here as going thru my ‘2nd Adulthood’, meaning being more responsible and not repeating past mistakes earlier in my life. Now 15 Years later, while not still completely where I feel like I should be, I’m in a slightly better place and hoping to finally reach the Promised Land before I pass on.
Again thanks for all the support over the years and hope to be around to share more of my time here in the future!
